Such eggs are produced in Bulgaria as well, even if only in some stores eggs are available. You will recognize them from the label. There it has to be written “eggs from hens barned raised” or “eggs from hens free range raised”
Why and how did the ministry try the eggs? This happened on the 19 October, St Ivan Rilski;s day, the Bulgarian Saint, which protected all nature and living creatures.
. A lot of the producers in Bulgaria do not obey the European recommendations to ensure humane raising for poultry birds. The Ministry of Agriculture and Provisions is the institution that has to inform and encourage the producers in this direction. To remind the state officials of this and with the hope that they will pay more serious attention to these thousands of animals, held in disgraceful conditions, we gave them “free eggs” precisely on the day of St Ivan Rilski.
